Don't you think there are too few categories in the forum?

I think the number of categories in the forum is low. Any Movie-Series, Game related categories etc. many categories are missing.

honestly lot of recent topics are quickly graspable by the title itself, the topics then just organize the posts really

I think categories of certain games can be added. Apart from that, a separate category can be opened for Anime and Movie lovers. You can open a category called "User Reviews" or "Game Reviews". That's all I can think of right now.

at face value i get what you're asking here.. but then try to consider what would be asked in this subforum, that also wouldnt be better suited on platforms that are built around movies and series. the short of it is that it's really not discussed here, because here is not the place to discuss it. it's like having a subforum for lawn mowers. besides this.. over the years i've kind of grown to support the notion of "too many categories already". the fact of the matter is that the majority of categories barely get any traffic at all, so at some point the 'discoverability' of spreading things out gets outweighed by the discoverability of being in a common feed rather than a desolate corner of this tiny slice of the internet.

 

besides.. i'm pretty sure i'm very much not the only one that browses the forum just from the front page and notifications.

There are already categories for PC, Console and Mobile Games. There is room for boardgames discussion, but that could be handled by topic in Off Topic sub, just like other megathreads. The fact is that this is tech forum, not lifestyle or general discussion forum (like Reddit). So decision has been made to exclude variation of non-tech discussion. So far, there have only been couple of threads since forum was created that have complained about it.

 

If you want to post game reviews, using existing game related subforum is good place for those.

 

E: Additionally, General Discussion gets about 20 threads dumped daily that belong to somewhere else. This also drives notion that the list is too long for modern users to read and search for proper place for their topics. Apparently present company included.

i agree this forum doesn't really need more sections... its overall pretty good and coherent. 

 

on the contrary some sections should not have their own sections, specifically "looking for group" should just be a sticky in each "gaming" section as it sees very low participation currently. 

 

ps: idk if that would improve things, but i would definitely try,  it cant get much worse than it currently is lol

yes and no, LFG isnt necessarily bound to a specific platform, the purpose is more for likeminded people to find each other.. but the alive-ness of the category probably implies that discord is the place for that these days.

... the problem is the placement... and also specifically that its not bound to a certain platform indeed.  put it into each gaming section on top and that would be alleviated (people looking for people on PlayStation etc wouldn't need to search for it, etc...)

 

as said idk if that would fix anything, but it would definitely improve visibility ...

 

i just think there are probably more people looking for group than are currently actually posting. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
