Totally a first for me this post will be given I've only had some experience with AMD as a whole.🫢😬 But I know I'll get support anyway, so I guess I'm not too worried... 😉🤷‍♂️

So, my mom has a Lenovo IdeaCentre AIO 3 27" AMD model, specifically, this one 👉 https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/desktops/ideacentre/aio-300-series/ideacentre-aio-3-gen-6-(27-inch-amd)/len102d0015#tech_specs And since she is not very good with tech, I actually take over the tech duties here at home which I actually enjoy. 😉 However, I have noticed a rather weird issue lately, which I'm unsure of how to resolve: I obviously have to pop into the Adrenalin Software to check for driver & firmware updates every now & then, but it says we don't have any other updates available, which I KNOW is inaccurate for whatever reason(s). In fact, I have verified this myself by checking, & it shows that the last driver update was released 02/20/2024, & the driver version is 24.3.1, yet we're "Up To Date". 🤨🤔🤷‍♂️

Now, I have done some troubleshooting of my own, which included: 1.) running the SFC scanner, which found corrupt system files & managed to repair them. Right after, I rebooted the system, of course. 2.) I tried reinstalling the Adrenalin Software itself to see if THAT fixed the issue, but it didn't. 3.) Heck, I even checked for Windows updates, but she is officially good to go, with nothing really available. She's on Windows 11 Home 23H2 [OS Build 22631.3672]. 4.) And I even called up Lenovo's support team directly, but they weren't able to do anything about it, except to suggest try downloading the Vantage software, but it was the same story with that. 😒🙄🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

So, with that being said, I actually don't know what needs to do be done in order to resolve this, but it's pretty clear at this point that the Adrenalin Software is unable to find the more recent driver(s) she needs. Still, I would like to hear from you AMD users on this- what do I need to do to fix this perplexing issue? 🤔 I am quite literally open to options, here, & if I happened to forget or leave anything out, or you need any additional details, feel free to comment, ask, or let me know, & I will be sure to reply! 👍

Thanks in advance everyone! 😊

Can you not manually download drivers for the hardware from AMD's website?

Regardless, a 4 month old GPU driver will not bring about the end of the world; that should not be a huge concern.

Technically, you can, but it actually installs the Adrenalin software, but I haven't found the option to ONLY install drivers, unlike Nvidia allows, which is sadly unfortunate, IMO. ☹️🙄🤦‍♂️ Also, yes, it's not the end of the earth, sure, but I strongly PREFER to be on the latest version since she is incapable of doing this on her own, so... 🤷‍♂️

You have to fully uninstall then run the setup again to get the option to only install drivers without the software. This is what I did to get rid of the absolute bloat the Radeon control panel is.

Go to the programs list then uninstall it, then uninstall the remaining drivers using device manager, that'll revert you to the basic microsoft display driver. Unplug the ethernet cable to prevent it from redownloading the older drivers from microsoft, then run the setup you've downloaded from AMD.

That should do it.

And despite common (mis)belief, you don't always need the latest drivers available if all you do is browse the internet, watch a video or edit spreadsheets. Or... whatever moms do with a computer.

My mom only uses it to read and send mail and read daily news, the weather, stuff like that. My dad does the same and also edits Excel files for work, I'm afraid he uses Excel... as a database. Fortunately they don't use Facebook, otherwise my poor computer would be full of viruses on a weekly basis.

Don't you dare reply me with emotes. I will not reply back if I see an emote.

Caroline doesn't need to hear all this, she's a highly trained professional.

AMD gives you the option to install "Drivers only" also "Basic install" and "Full install" You have to select that option after opening up the .exe file.

Huh. Well, I honestly must not have been aware that you have that option AS you're installing the driver itself, but I guess that's cause I'm used to my Intel/Nvidia-based system. 🤷‍♂️

It is easy to be overlooked. Click advanced options.
