Yes, depending on its position it's either the South Bridge (on the bottom of the board, near the PCIe Slots), or the North Bridge, which is near the CPU socket (on many modern CPUs, the North Bridge is on the package, and not present on the motherboard anymore).

On laptop motherboards, the chipset is just whereever it fit best.
