HDMI 2.0 not supporting 1440p/144Hz

SmoothHandlerer

Hi All,

I bought a Lenovo Yoga Flip 7 (it-1240p) and wanted to connect a 1440p/144hz display to it.

In theory, the laptop has HDMI 2.0 and 4k/60hz works fine however I cannot choose a higher refresh rate than 60hz for 1440p. I checked on different monitors, different cables.

If I connect this monitor via thunderbolt docking station (and then via HDMI from docking station), it works fine, but HDMI on the laptop itself only sends out 1440/60hz signal.

Lenovo says it's up to spec and won't take it for warranty... I was looking up the issue and every table of available resolutions / refresh rates that I've found confirms 1440p/144Hz...
I was under the impression that if a manufacturer says HDMI 2.0, then 1440p/144Hz must be supported. Was I wrong or should I still push Lenovo to honor the warranty? I cannot return the laptop to the store (no such law in Poland). I can only push for warranty OR I can return it if I prove that it is not up to specs.

Any help would be appreciated!

Is the HDMI cable capable of this? Is it the docking station limiting it?

HDMI cable capable.

It works fine via docking station. It's a thunderbolt 4 docking station with hdmi port in it - this works perfect 1440p/144Hz.

Hdmi on a laptop itself doesnt work over 1440p/60Hz.

Dell S2722DGM but i also checked it on Iyamma. Monitor is not an issue, As it works great throught dockins station and also checked on other laptop.

The problem is strictly narrowed to laptop's built in HDMI port
