A doubt regarding displayport connection

Naveen Prashanth

Hey guys, I have a very curious doubt regarding dual monitor setup connected using dp usb-c connection. A small fun game before I reveal the doubt 馃槈

Find a minimum of 7 unique differences in these images:

(don't forget to load these in full resolution 馃槄)

I reveal my question after someone finds the differences 馃榾

The time is different 馃槢

Spoiler

The relevant differences I see are iGPU vs discrete GPU and VRR supported vs unsupported

I got:

  • Time
  • Apps open (two points if you're counting each)
  • GPU used
  • VRR support
  • Taskbar layout/appearance
  • Edit: colour grading is different
  • Edit 2: kinda piggy-backing off the last one but it's noticeably fuzzier/seems lower resolution.

Maybe got them all but IDK.

Is it? Because I downloaded both full resolution images, put them into Gimp as layers and set it to Difference. All areas of the image turn to black, except of the text for GPU, VRR and some task bar icons and its borders.

That wouldn't happen if there was some actual difference there

You got 6 of them correct 馃檪.

I counted time as 2 points and taskbar icons/open apps as 2 points.聽

There's no resolution change and color grading difference 馃槄, both are original screenshots taken in windows cropped using paint 3d manually typing the resolution and adjusting the position of crop window to the right end to hide personal info

I found 8 differences in total 馃檪. 2 of them yet to be discovered by someone 馃榾

Weird, I'm not seeing it anymore either...not too sure there, maybe the full resolution didn't load properly.

Yeah, I don't notice the resolution issue anymore (assuming the full resolution didn't load properly) but I'm still seeing a slight colour difference.

Obviously not what you're wanting us to look for though.

Well, the last two differences are the translucent shade change behind the settings page on small screen and no curved taskbar on bigger screen in one of the images 馃榾

The doubt is I have Zephyrus M16 2023 laptop which has a thunderbolt port as well as alt dp type c port connected to nvidia GPU directly. Now I am running my laptop with advanced optimus turned on and if I connected the apple studio display with apple thunderbolt cable that they sell to thunderbolt port of my laptop, I don't see VRR support, but if connected to Nvidia GPU it shows VRR support, is it hardware issue or graphics card issue? I have the latest drivers installed for both of them - from Intel website and nvidia GeForce experience

Also weirdly both didn't show hdr support, why is that?聽
