RTX 3060 vs RX 6650XT

Velocity7

Which GPU should I pair with my Ryzen 5 5600x an RTX 3060 (12GB) or and RX 6650XT (8GB) for mainly gaming but some video editing.

I am getting both at the same price, I am leaning towards the RX 6650XT more because of the better performance it gives but the RTX 3060 has more VRAM.

Unless you really need the 12GB VRAM for some VRAM hungry game or stuff the +15%+ performance of the 6650XT is preferrable

8GB is enough for 1080p and most 1440p gaming, but  depending on your location a 6700 is often like only $30 more expensive, is even faster and has 10GB VRAM

What country are you buying from?

In the US right now, the RX 7600 is $260 and the RX 6700 non-XT is $280 while the RX 6650XT is $250. I think either of them are a better choice than the RX 6650XT at that pricing. Both are faster than the RX 6650XT on average and trade blows with each other depending on the game. You can make a case for the RX 7600 being more energy efficient and having AV1 encoding capabilities, and you can make a case for the RX 6700 having 10GB of VRAM. But I think both would be a better option than the RX 6650XT.
