A new gpu for 8700K

kennycraig

Hi, I want to upgrade my gpu and was wondering whether the 7700xt would bottleneck the cpu. If so, what's the best today's gpu I could buy that wouldn't? Thank you

If you can afford it, I'd do it.

Worst case, you see only little improvement and you plan for a cpu.

I'm willing to swim against the current.

@kennycraig Being CPU bottlenecked isn't the worst thing. Instead, you can increase the resolution or the graphics settings, or play more demanding titles. There is no problem in being CPU bottlenecked. You are still getting that GPU horsepower. Of course, if you can afford that. If you can't afford easily or plan to save money, also I don't think the 8700K will bottleneck the 7700xt by that much, if at all.

Microsoft owns my soul.

Also, Dell is evil, but HP kinda nice.

My bro has a 6800xt on his and he says it’s great at 1440p.  The 7800xt is pretty much the same chip so a 7700xt should be fine.

I edit the shit out of my posts.  Refresh before you respond.

The i7-8700k can run just about any new game smoothly. Most games also allow you to limit the fps so you can easily achieve a stable frame rate.

If you have a GPU that struggles with modern games the 7700xt is definitely going to be a much better experience in these modern games.
