I can almost guarantee you that this is a hardware issue. It can be repaired by buying a new mouse switch but this requires some newbie skills in taking apart gadgets and soldering. If you are feeling adventurous and have the tools, give it a try. Otherwise, you would need to buy a new one.

Hello i have a problem with my steelseries rival 310 mouse.

the middle mouse button/scrollwheel click doesnt work properly anymore. it changed so i have to hold it down for a little bit before it works and i used to just click it once and it worked but not anymore

and its driving me crazy cuz i use it alot and i have it as a ping button in games and its wierd to hold it down if i want to mark enemys. i have checked drivers and they are good i even removed the device in device manager but still the same problem.

Alternatively, S/He can try to find a nearby tech repair shop, and ask if they can do it (at the very least for the desoldering & soldering part) for cheap price.

The desoldering & soldering process will take like 2 minutes at most with an entry level soldering expertise & tools.

The following video and article might help for the disassembly process & identifying what type of switch you need.
