Can someone help me with this? Idk if this is a very cost effective build

I think at this budget you'll get far better value buying used components.

 

The 12500 can be replaced by a 5500 (roughly equivilant) for a small saving, but I don't really recommend either of these chips casue their bad values compared to the chips above them.

 

An equivilant and cheaper set of ram is available.

 

I've swapped in an NVMe SSD.

 

 

The 1660 Super is the worst offender for value in your whole list. An extra $100 dollars spent here would get you a RX 6700 XT which is roughly twice as powerful and come with twice the vram (which would make it a far better long term purchase). Alternatively, you could pick up a 1080 Ti on the used market for $150 which would be about 60% better and it also gets almost twice the vram.

 

After that I swapped in a cheaper case and a semi modular power supply (but that probably isn't worth it)

In summary, buy used for atlease the CPU and GPU. You'll get better stuff.

Common build advice: 1) Buy the cheapest (well reviewed) motherboard that has the features you need. Paying more typically only gets you features you won’t use. 2) only get as much RAM as you need, getting more won’t (typically) make your PC faster. 3) While I recommend getting an NVMe drive, you don’t need to splurge for an expensive drive with DRam cache, DRamless drives are fine for gamers. 4) paying for looks is fine, just don’t break the bank. 5) Tower coolers are usually good enough, unless you go top tier Intel or plan on OCing. 6) OCing is a dead meme, you probably shouldn’t bother. 7) "Bottlenecks" rarely matter and "Future-proofing" is a myth. 8) AIOs don't noticably improve performance past 240mm.

Warning: Intel Arc is a bleeding edge product. You should do alot of reasearch before buying to check it works well in the games you play and programs you use. Also, like the 1660 super, compared to a used 1080Ti, it isn't a great value imo.

They had severe driver issues. They've come a long way since then and the overall sentiment on the internet is that everyone's impressed and can't wait for Intel to follow up on this.

 

At $200 and offering near 3060 performance at points, it's a steal of an opportunity that would be a shame to miss out on, still worth it even if the odd singe digit amount of indie games crash/run bad cause it's using some some specific rendering pipeline package.

 

Of course 3060 and 7600 are safer alternatives but that's why they ask for a higher mark up.
