Computer kind of turns on

A guy at work gave me a computer, it has a MSI Z97 gaming 7 motherboard and an EVGA supernova 750 G2 power supply. When I press the power button the fan turns on and the motherboard lights up like it is on. The lights on the THOR case turn on for less than a second then turn off. The fan stay on but it's like the computer's not on.

It won't turn on and post without a cpu and ram.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

It has a CPU, GPU and RAM. No it didn't work but I'm trying to figure out why.
