Everything Lags While Gaming / Youtube, Twitch & Streaming

Optane^

Hi all,

When playing a game, youtube and twitch will lag and I can't for the life of me stream. With my specs I shouldn't be having issues.. Any ideas?

When I alt+tab though, the video or stream runs fine but the GPU is still at 100% usage. But when I focus the game again, lags.

Hrmmm have you tried using the hardware encoder chip in your GPU. Within OBS or whatever streaming software you use, it should be in options and you should find something called "encoder" change it to the NVIDA GPU it should say something like " XXX (HVENC)" or hardware something along those lines.

Try swapping to that and see if the lag goes away.

Yes.

But it's not just streaming. Watching a simple youtube video or twitch stream while gaming, it lags.

not enough context here.  Only when gaming correct? So If you dont GAME does playing a video cause the PC to lag ?

Try to make your PC lag again, but this time open up Task manager and leave it on the performance tab and check out what is going on when it lags some of the values that change might give you a clue on what is causing the issue.

If you only have one monitor you can go into task manager settings and select "always on top" fyi.

Issue is when GPU hit's 100% utilization. How can I prevent this?

Try disabling GPU hardware acceleration in your browser.

I did. same issue.

can I reserve like 10% of my GPU for other tasks? like only let games use 90%?

Not really. You may be able to set task priorities but not reserve usage. Windows is not wired like that.
