Looking for a gaming keyboard and mouse for around $50 each or less.

NavalGod75

Hello,

I just bought my first desktop gaming PC, and as part of the purchase it comes with a "free" keyboard and mouse. I don't think they will be very good though, and am looking for something to replace them if my prediction is correct.

I'm willing to spend around $50 on each, but if there is a good cheaper option it will be much appreciated! My only requirement with the specifications is that the keyboard has to be full size, with a numpad.

I did some of my own research, these are the ones I found;

Keyboard:
Corsair K55
Steelseries Apex 3

Mouse:
Logitech G305 lightspeed

Steelseries Aerox 3

Are these good options?

Thank you for the links, but is there anything more specific you recommend? Also, I would prefer to buy on Amazon, even if it means spending a little more.

Peripherals are very subjective to personal opinions. As far as membrane keyboards go, the K55 you have listed is a decent keyboard. My son uses one  at the inlaws house after school. It has a decent enough feel.

For the mouse I've always been partial to the G502, and these go on sale pretty regular. However it's wired.

Give them a try first, especially the keyboard.

Mouse you can probably find something good for 50$, like the Logitech you already suggested.

But for keyboards, especially full-size, it will be challenging and not be worth it in the end. For example, both keyboards you listed are membrane and not mechanical, which might not be that much of an upgrade over the one that already comes with the PC. They are also both wired and I don't think they offer anything extra apart from RGB and 'gamer' aesthetics. I mean, things you might actually want like anti-ghosting are specified as "gaming grade", which is simply just marketing bullshit. So the included keyboard must be really, really bad for this to be a significant upgrade.

The issue is that most cheap mechanical keyboards are small (for whatever reason, must be cheaper idk), like TKL or less. Full-size with build quality and QoL features really start at 100$ plus, unfortunately. I don't know why, but in the mechanical keyboard space it seems people really don't like full-size that, hence why there is simply not that much variety out there.

Ultimately it will come down to what you are looking for in a keyboard. But before you spend 50$ on another compromise I would strongly suggest to give the included one a chance and see what you like and what you don't like.
