Amazon Prime Video vs Netflix

Here's the thing: I have Netflix premium plan which I pay EUR13.99/month. So, yesterday I made purchase on Amazon of SSD and it had a great deal with Prime membership ($65 instead of $104), so I activated Prime membership which costs $14.99/month. One moment I thought to maybe switch to Amazon Prime since it's a same amount. I was giving to give it a try. Didn't want to pay for both services, but sadly I was very disappointed with Amazon Prime video... When you pay for Netlix, all the content Netflix has is absolutely free for you. You don't have to pay anything extra. I thought it would be same for Amazon Prime video, but I was mistaken. After launching it, I saw that only Amazon originals were free to watch. Any TV show besides Amazon originals were NOT free. You had to make an additional subscribtion for other channels, like if you want to watch "House of Dragons", you need to subscribe for $14.99/month for MAX channel and etc... So, basically you would be making a lot more subscribtions and spending more money. This is so stupid... Plus, I saw "rent" option for episodes lol. This is so disappointing. After this, I didn't even think twice which service keep. Netflix shines and wins with 1000% here.

Except none of those shows are available on Netflix either. Amazon just gives you the option of signing up for the service that has it.

Paying monthly $15 for the option to sign up on other services is stupid. I could easily sign up on those other channels myself for free. Yes, Netflix doesn't have all shows, but Amazon Prime doesn't have all shows either and if we compare their originals, Netflix here also wins with more Netflix original content than Amazon. I really don't see reason to have Amazon Prime for watching videos.

Don't think you're looking in the right spots then. Amazon (at least here in the US) does offer content other than their originals on their service (just last night I watched Momento through them, no extra payments required). You have to look for the "Included with Prime" marker on shows, and while it's kinda dumb they don't have a check box to filter for only those shows, they do at least have subsections marked "Prime" that are always included with what you have.

Every one of these are included with Prime, no other payment required (this is just a screenshot of my recommended)

To be fair, the only reason I have prime is for the free 2 day shipping, if it weren't for that I wouldn't bother as the service IMO just isn't as good as Disney Plus, Hulu, Netflix, etc. That said, if you're paying for that anyway, the streaming service added onto it is nice.

Depending on where you're from, it could be a good deal. Here in Belgium, Prime is 2.99 EUR/month still, but it doesn't offer a lot of video content like Netflix. There are some good shows on there that I like though. For 2.99 EUR/month, we also get Prime shipping and Amazon Games, which is a great deal if you ask me.

Amazon Prime video still has choices to buy or subscribe to other channels or separately buy/rent content, which they could also just include as a more expensive subscription IMO.

Wow, that's very cheap. For 2.99 EUR/month definitely isn't bad. I'm in Georgia (East Europe). I'm curious how much Netflix premium plan costs for you?

I agree with you on that. I'm outside US, so I don't think I have Hulu or Disney Plus available here. Only Netflix and this Amazon Prime video. Since Netflix offers more content for me without additional subscribtions, I'll stick with Netflix.

So interesting. Netflix seems a bit expensive for you, but Amazon Prime is much much cheaper. Technically, Netflix has correct pricing which makes sense - Belgium is a wealthier country than Georgia with bigger salaries, so it's no surpise Netflix is a bit more expansive there than here, but Amazon Prime really makes no sense to me, it's just strange, but definitely good for you.

Oh really? Where can you sign up for HBO for free?

You're still not getting it. You mentioned House of Dragons. That's an HBO show. It will only be on HBO. It will never be on Amazon or Netflix.

Netflix is a streaming service only. They are not going to show you anything they don't have. They don't advertise for their competitors.

Amazon is a streaming service but its still mainly a retail store. They will show you other services you can buy even when it competes with them.

You can argue about who has better original programming but complaining about the option to link to another service makes Zero sense.
