Rubber cap earphones always fall out + thinking to buy a headphone.

Gat Pelsinger

Pretty much all rubber cap earphones I have used always sucked. They go way to inside my ear and always make my ears pain. The keep falling after a while even when I am not moving. How do you wear your rubber earphones if you ever used one? Also, I am definitely going to buy a headphone now. One disadvantage I have heard of them is that they are focused on music and audio quality, but sometimes might lack audio concentration. For example, you might be able to hear one's footsteps in a game much better in earphones than headphones, but I do not know if this is a myth or real. Also, are cheap headphones good enough, or do I need to spend for a decent quality one?

edit- the reason my earphones keep falling is because of the oil. Even though my ears so clean, there is still going to be oil which sticks to the caps and make them lose grip and fall. I guess neither me or they can help this.

Hi buddy,

Like you, I'm not a fan of bud earphones. Mine have always fallen out or felt uncomfortable.

The bad news is, like most audio / tech items, the sky's the limit when it comes to price and options.

I use a pair of Bose Quiet Comforts (45 I think).

They're certainly not the cheapest of headphones but they great when I'm lying in bed watching YouTube on my phone whilst my girlfriend reads and equally as good when I'm gaming on my PC.

Ok, they don't have any Spatial Audio facility but TBH, they sound good enough to me and I can't justify having a set for gaming and another set for listening to music.

For cup headphones, they're relatively discrete in terms of size. Nothing worse that walking down the street with headphones the size of your head on each ear.

Sennheiser and Sony are 2 other makes to look at as they comparable ranges.

What's your budget? There are ~150$ headphones that fit in the upper class for competitive gaming like the Sennheiser HD 560S...

There are some absurd custom ear tip solutions up to and including stuff for racing drivers which are molded from the ear canal to the outside of the ear.
But yeah, sounds like you are just not a good bud candidate. It sucks. I rock Sony WH1000XM4 which are good for most things but spendy

Before you jump ship and get some headphones (still nice to have anyways...), try different ear tips. There are foam variants (like memory foam) and there's also the "spin fit" tips, which I find to be the most comfortable personally and don't "pain" the ear as much.

Have you tried different ear tips yet? Make sure you get different sizes so you can figure out what suits your ears best.

@191x7 Around 12 to 18 usd, but currency conversion this way is not ideal. A friendly youtuber I follow has good quality headphones with a decent microphone at just 12 dollars.

In every type of headphones, earphones, IEM-s, speakers etc. you have a ton of bad ones, a ton of good ones, and everything in between. No generalization.

For that price you can't even get acceptable IEM-s, even those are 20+ like the QKZ x HBB or the 7Hz Salnotes Zero.

For good headphones, you have to spend at least 30ish to have something acceptable like the Koss Porta Pro.

You tagged me but didn't respond to my question at all?

I'll copy and paste it again.

Have you tried different ear tips yet? Make sure you get different sizes so you can figure out what suits your ears best.

(I only say this because spending a few dollars on different ear tips that may suit you well is certainly a lot more affordable than going out and buying headphones)

@NinJake My earphones came with multiple sizes of ear tips. I did change them once, and they started to fit better. I have even bigger size of ear tips as well which I might try. But it is not about the sizes, it is about the oil in my ears which makes the rubbers caps slippery and fall out.

You should look into different ear tips. Like the memory foam or "spin-fit" tips I mentioned. They are leagues better than any "stock" ear tips I've tried. Once again, personally, the spin-fit tips are the most comfortable to me but the memory foam may be better for your use case.

@191x7

As I said again that those 30 dollars convert to more than what I need to spend here in my country. A 13900K costs 551 USD on amazon, but that same product costs 17.33% more in my country. So, if I buy those products which are made in my country, then I can get those way cheaper.

I rest my case. Buy whatever pleases you. And I don't care why you even asked, I guess neither do you.

Ever used foam tip earbuds?

I have no issue using silicone/rubber tip earbuds, but my preference has always been foam because I used Shure earbuds way back in my highschool days. I use Comply foam tips on my gym AirPods Pro (still use default tips on my Gen 2's)

Shocking, I know, but you can buy different tips for IEMs.

  • 2 weeks later...

If you want help then give information, what kind of earbuds do you use? What have you previously tried? Do you have any sound/ budget/ use requirements if you decide to buy headphones? otherwise i could just say "just try foam eartips" whilst you're actually using some terrible buds and it would do nothing to solve your problem.

Quick and dirty budget recommendations for most of what you're looking for, Truthear Hola if you're willing to give IEM's a try and are cool with wires, Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 if you need bluetooth (nothing on the market comes close until Galaxy buds 2 pro and Airpods 2 pro) JBL Tune 710BT/760NC if you need competent sounding wireless headphones, AKG K361 if you want good wired closed back headphones, Sennheiser HD560S/ Beyerdynamic DT880 for open back headphones (do not buy anything else from beyerdynamic, they just can't tune their products without tinnitus inducing high-pitched sounds) Next time please give more information, how can you answer a question when you have no clue what the person is asking?
