Yeah, should be fine, just remember to carry the charger and charge when you can (I have a hiking backpack so I fished the wall plug out through the top water pouch access spot and charged it while waiting for profs to arrive to class in the hallway)

I got through my entire Biology degree with a Ryzen 3000 mobile chip and integrated graphics, none of the models/simulations we ran were particularly demanding since most of it was lab data number crunching in excel or programs from the mid 2000's that were still relavent and designed to run on a Pentium 4.

Something in the Pavilion/Thinkpad/Inspiron range with a good quad core should do the majority of what you need it to without breaking a sweat. What is going to be really important for you is battery life since charging a laptop in a lecture hall is all but impossible.

So if you dont need to run any heavy Programms id suggest getting something like a a surface, i got through my whole bachelors degree with a 2016 i5(M5) surface with only 128 GB internal storage (+256GB micro SD card). Skripts just dont take up much space, you can easily make "handwritten" notes in scripts wich is really nice and in contrast to an iPad (or other tablets) you can run specialized Programms as well... Like Matlab or latex. But i dont know what you are doing in you computing bachelors, for heavy simulations you might need more processing power.

I will also do a bit of rendering stuff too so don't think those will work

do you already have contact to any sort of organization of your university/College  with senior students from your course. Here in Germany ther is often someting like a "Fachschaft" where students are organized to help each other and new students. Maybe they can tell you which Programms you will need to use ant that way we might be able to figure out which system might be the best... There are for example some simulation tools that can take advantage of GPUs to an a dGPU might be helpfull

The vast majority of those are CPU tasks, something like a 12700H would likely work very well, if you come across like a 13600H/4050 laptop that should be plenty for any schoolwork you come across that isn't like running huge simulations in Solidworks.

Yeah, should be fine, just remember to carry the charger and charge when you can (I have a hiking backpack so I fished the wall plug out through the top water pouch access spot and charged it while waiting for profs to arrive to class in the hallway)

Study hard, remember to pace yourself, and asking for help is not a weakness or making you a burden on anyone. College can be a lot of fun, do your best to make quality relationships.
