Overclocking RAM on A320M-S2H Motherboard

Ram OC doesn't really count as that much of OC in my book. I had a ryzen 5 5600 running with 2x8gb 3200 mhz ram on an a320m/ac just fine. On this motherboard it was called XMP, but on yours it could be called DOCP, not sure, too lazy to look. It should be perfectly fine, but on the off chance it isn't, it is super easy to fix. If you enable it and your computer stops working you just need to reseat your cmos battery to reset the bios.

Hello everyone,

I’m currently running a system with an A320M-S2H motherboard and a Ryzen 5 5600 CPU. My RAM is rated at 3200MHz, but it’s currently only running at 2400MHz. I’ve checked the spec sheet for my motherboard on the manufacturer’s website, and it states that it can support up to 3200MHz with overclocking.
 

My system also includes an 80+ Bronze 650W Corsair PSU. I plan to keep the CPU at stock speed and only overclock the RAM.

Given these specifications, I wanted to ask if it would be possible to overclock my RAM to its rated 3200MHz on this motherboard? I’ve already updated my BIOS to the latest version. I’m planning to upgrade my motherboard to something like a B550 next year. In the meantime, I’m wondering if my current A320M-S2H motherboard can handle overclocking.

 

I’ve heard that it’s generally safer to overclock RAM than a CPU. Is this true? Do y'all think the motherboard can really handle it?

Yeah, I fiddled with the setting on the bios and it's called xmp on mine too, thanks for the response, now I'm more confident to have faster ram speed, Cheers!

It's more likely to cause weird instability, and there are still some memory voltages that can kill stuff if set too high. On average it's generally safer, but in practice it's about the same.

Yeah, that 3200 rating was with the joke of a memory controller that was Ryzen 1000, with the actually good IMC of Ryzen 5000 that board should work at 3600+. 

 

Enable XMP and it should just work, there's no risk with that as it doesn't set voltages to unsafe levels.

Yeah, that 3200 rating was with the joke of a memory controller that was Ryzen 1000, with the actually good IMC of Ryzen 5000 that board should work at 3600+. 

 

Enable XMP and it should just work, there's no risk with that as it doesn't set voltages to unsafe levels.

ehh it seems like your talking about XMP which isn't much of a OC but you can manually OC ram.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

That is what I meant yes, I should have been more specific. In this case it was clear OP was talking about XMP at 3200 mhz.
