    • AM5.2 (4070 Ti) - highest Price - performance increase over AM5.1 - same effort as AM5.1

Budget (including currency): ~650€ // Depending on what config max. 900€ (GPU only)

Country: Germany

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 1440p with high settings / High refresh rate Gaming

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I'm saving up whatever I comfortably can because I've been thinking a lot about upgrading since I recently bought a new monitor to play on. I also want to try some of the games i couldnt really enjoy playing so far (Games like Cyberpunk, RDR2).

Considering my current build, everything is a reasonable upgrade:

CPU - Ryzen 5 1600x

CPU - Cooler: Noctua NH-U 12s

GPU - MSI GTX 1050 ti Gaming

MB - MSI Prime X370-Pro

RAM - 16 GB 2400 MT/s '

M.2 - Crucial P5 1TB

HDD - 2x 1TB Seagate Barracuda

PSU - Seasonic Focus GX 850

Case - Corsair 275R Airflow

1. Monitor - LG Ultragear 27in 1440p 180 hz

2. Monitor - Some offbrand 1080p 60 hz Monitor that i use as a Media/Discord screen while I game

Before I even start listing the things I thought about and asking for some of your opinions on what I picked out so far, I wanted to say that I'm a die-hard Nvidia fan, and I honestly don't consider getting a Radeon Card even though it is quite possibly a better choice.

But to get to what this post is about, I want to upgrade my CPU, GPU and RAM:

CPU: Ryzen 5 5700x // Ryzen 7 5600x - Considering that I can get them at approximately the same price, I don't see why I should pick the 5600x over the 5700x, but maybe someone can make me change my mind.

RAM: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16 GB DDR4 3200 MT/s CL14 - no real reason to take this set of ram

GPU: Gigabyte RTX 4070 Gaming OC - It's new, It's "power efficient" and comparable to an RTX 3080 with Frame generation. My friends told me to skip the 4000 series, but as I'm upgrading from something that's almost 7 years old, I don't see why I wouldn't go for this geneneration of Cards. I could go for a used previous-generation Card but I prefer to buy something that hasn't been used before. It's a financially flawed decision (same as not even considering a Radeon Card) but i personally don't want something used unless it's a complete nobrainer i.e. someone selling their recently replaced and almost unused 3080 Ti for like 400€. I'm also open to other card models like Gigabyte's Eagle OC or some other manufacturer's cards as long as they provide similar cooling and performance.

I also put some thought into ditching AM4 and upgrading to AM5 just to not be stuck with PCIE gen 3, but I wanted to stick with my x370, update the BIOS and be done with it. Especially because it's gonna be cheaper and fit my current budget a lot more.. But I could just end up saving what I can till Christmas or some time around there and be happy with my new current-gen System. I really don't have a clue if the AM5 build even makes sense; I kinda just chose some parts. So please roast the build all you want. If I were to hop chipset anyway, I could also change to Intel, but I personally haven't looked into that because it honestly just crossed my mind while writing this.

CPU: Ryzen 5 7600x // Ryzen 5 7600 - approx. 15€ of difference but also a 40W TDP difference, so if my (GPU-) performance isn't impacted by it I'll just pick the 7600.

MB: MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK Wifi ATX

RAM: G.Skill Flare X5 32 GB DDR5 6000 MT/s CL30

GPU: Gigabyte RTX 4070 Gaming OC (660€) // Gigabyte RTX 4070 TI Gaming OC (900€) - to be honest, I don't really know if the 4070 Ti would be a better pick. It's up 200-250€ for some performance increase  (as stated earlier, I'm open to going with other manufacturers aswell; I just picked a Gigabyte card because all my friends have one).

To sum it the pricing (22.09 German pricing):

AM4 upgrade costs around 924€ (total with CPU, RAM & GPU) - I'll be stuck at PCIE gen 3.0 tho

AM5.1 (4070) upgrade costs around 1225€ (Total with CPU, MB, RAM & 4070)

AM5.2 (4070 Ti) upgrade costs around 1447 (Total with CPU, MB, Ram & 4070 Ti)

Im also kinda sorry for this wall of text.

Quickest and most cost effective would be to just stick to AM4 and upgrade the CPU, Ram, and GPU. I'd go for something like this personally. But I would say, knowing your total budget for the whole thing would be more beneficial than wording it the way you have. Is your total upgrade budget around €1500 or not? The way you have it listed as €650 but then say €900 for GPU only is kind of confusing. If it's a total budget of €1500 I'd say go for the best of the best you can fit within that budget.

First of all, thank you for your response. I thought about it, and I could've phrased a lot better...

The total I'm willing to spend is around 1500€. What I was trying to say is that I'm down to spend 650 on a 4070 without a second thought about it but depending on the response to this Post I'd change my mind and go with the 4070 Ti.
I've been thinking about it, and I really can't decide. The performance is noticeably higher, but so is the price tag. I can't really tell if 250€ is worth it, but that's exactly why I'm looking for people who are more knowledgeable than I am to either tell me that the 4070 Ti isn't worth it considering the price to performance increase or if I should save up for it because the performance is that much better.
