External segate hard drive is not working.

I have an oldish 4tb hard drive for my xbox one s but when I go to plug it in it spins up, makes a couple of squeeks then spins down and the LED does not light up. I have not used it in a little bit so it could have died in transport. I just want to know if I am wasting my time trying to find fixes or not.
