Best solution for gaming at 240hz

Chillito
Go to solution Solved by ItsDestini,

If I'm not mistaking HDMI doesn't support GSYNC so you'll be most likely slightly be missing out on the minimal smoothness but I mean yeah you should be able to utilize the 240hz option on HDMI. I mean just looking it up and yeah you should be fine using the usb c to display port since you've got a pretty beefy machine so yeah feature set should be supported no problem

I’ve recently aquired a 240hz gsync compatible monitor that I would like to use as a display however i came to realise that my laptop is missing a display port. Will hdmi suffice for gaming or should i look at other options such as usb c to display port. Im using an asus strix g17 for reference.

HDMI 2.0 and up can do 240hz at 1080p.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

I think your are correct that G-sync compatibility only works on DisplayPort.

If OP can actually get 240+ fps in the games they play though I don't think they will miss G-sync much.

Keep in mind that this is heavily dependent on the monitor. not all monitors come with a version of hdmi that supports 240hz even though it does supports it over displayport. I had one such monitor. It did only 144hz over hdmi even though my cable and gpu should theoretically support 240hz over HDMI.
