The machine doesn't need to be cutting edge (hence the budget), but here are some specs I'd like, but aren't totally necessary:

- On board graphics
- Built in WiFi
- Thunderbolt 3 or 4
- upgradable

Youre not getting all that in 400 GBP. Z790-I Gaming Wifi by Asus is the only board with all 4 options on a recent platform (iGPU is built into the CPU so thats moot point) and that is 400GBP alone.

1. Budget & Location

The preferred budget for my build would be £400 (GBP). The location I'll be shopping is the UK.

2. Aim

My system will be for doing Graphic Design and Web Design work and maybe play a few games like Warzone 2, but mainly for the design work.

3. Monitors

How many monitors do you plan to use? Do you plan to add more monitors in the future? What resolution are they at too?

This pc will be running 2 monitors both with a resolution of 2560x1440px.

4. Peripherals

I already have the following:
- 2x 1440p monitors
- Bluetooth Logitech keyboard (dongleless)
- Bluetooth Logitech mouse (dongleless)
- Case
- Power supply
- CPU AiO water cooler
- A sata SSD (if needed)

This is the link for the case, power supply, and AiO water cooler: https://www.scan.co.uk/products/nzxt-h1-white-mini-itx-chassis-tempered-glass-window-140mm-aio-cooler-usb31-type-c-650w-80plus-gold

5. Why are you upgrading?

I currently have a Dell latitude 7480 (i7 7600u, 32gb Ram) which I use in conjunction with a HP Omen Accelerator External GPU enclosure holding a rx580 GPU.

This setup is starting to get slow and sluggish so the desktop is to replace that.

6. Other

The machine doesn't need to be cutting edge (hence the budget), but here are some specs I'd like, but aren't totally necessary:

- On board graphics
- Built in WiFi
- Thunderbolt 3 or 4
- upgradable

I'm happy to go a generation older to get value for money.

Overclocking is not something I'm interested in at the moment, but maybe in the future to squeeze out some more performance.

I am human. I'm scared of the dark, and I get toothaches. My name is Frill. Don't pretend not to see me. I was born from the two of you.

@SorryBella thank you for your response and builds. I did have a couple of questions:

  1. I'm guessing the Motherboard defines the RAM I can as to whether it's DDR4 or DDR5?
  2. I presume I can use my rx580 and then upgrade that in the future.

yes and yes, though your GPU will not be getting driver updates anymore, so the latest games may not run
