What case and motherboard, that'll make this easier. PCPP is constantly confusing people with this and half the time flat out wrong.

If you don't care about the Type C port on the case top panel, none of this matters.

 

However, if you do, these are your options. Your motherboard does NOT have the required Type E connector normally used to connect to case front panel Type C ports. You can:

 

  • Leave it disconnected and just not use the Type C port on the front of the case. 
  • Adapt it to USB 2.0 only and connect it to one of the two USB2.0 headers on your board with this kind of adapter.
  • Move the Type C USB3 plug on your case to one of the USB2 headers using this adapter and then adapt the USB Type C port on the case to USB3 using this adapter.
  • Buy a USB PCIe card with the correct Type E plug for your front panel Type C port like this.
  • Just buy a motherboard with the correct Type E header to begin with.
