Sigh oh for the love of... lovely. The penis measuring contest on reddit, has me internally yelling: "children, pls, behave!"

I'm sorry, all I'm reading right now is that a bunch of people are intent on ruining things for everyone. It just comes across as 'if I cant have bunnytracks icecream no one can have icecream', and dumping all of a stores icecream onto their floors. I really wish their was an adult in this penis measuring contest. I also wish their was something to fill its void.  I don't know a bulletin board/ social media site with as much somewhat helpful answers to questions.

All this because huffman and or his handlers had proposed to: make some money selling users data, and some API changes that cheesed off a bunch of forum owners. And now both sides stamping their feet and playing chicken at the cost of joe average?

I don't know who needs a kick in the dick first! The mods tantrum, or huffmans  not at all thought out thinking.

Do you not understand the point of protests?

Give the whiners what they want, so everyone else doesn't have to listen to their whining?

I fully support everyone who doesn't like Reddit, to go build your own Reddit!

Build a superior alternative.

No, and if you're going to be obtuse about it, I'm not going to take you seriously.

Not a tantrum. To my knowledge Reddit's mod features on their mobile app are utter dogshit. A lot of subreddits are understaffed, and said staff aren't at their computers all day, so they rely on mobile devices. Most of them use these 3rd party apps because they offer a lot better of a moderator experience/feature set than Reddit's own app. Those apps shutting down makes their job harder or even impossible, I've seen a small subreddit I followed that only had one mod, state they were shutting down permanently because she cannot manage it without the 3rd party tools.

This is more a case of the store only selling a large serving fork as an ice cream eating utensil, and now slapping a massive fee on bringing a spoon to try and actually enjoy the ice cream.

I understand the point of protests, however reddit is clearly out of touch with the users, so I doubt they're just going to give people what they want.

Also mods simply locking subreddits to private only seems shortsighted IMO, it prevents people from finding posts that could help.

And then people come along who don't know what they're talking about as outside observers, call you morons, spit on you, and mock you for doing something about things and expect you to just take the current state of things because they're too lazy to see the value in improvements to the system as is.

What is wrong about that?

Protesters don't like the status quo.
Protesters then "protest" in a way that annoys people (shutting down roads, or subreddits) so that everyone else succumbs to the demands of the protesters and give the protesters what they want so that things can go back to normal (open the road or subreddits).

Protest seems a lot like extortion if you think about it.

I can't read reddit on my favourite app.
I will shut down a popular subreddit I moderate, so that everyone can't enjoy the content and they force the platform to change their API rules.

Wise Guys would be proud!
