Overclocking on HP Z400 Workstation

Thanks for letting me know. Is it normal that I can't have the maximum turbo boost speed? Its speed does not exceed 3.3GHz, the temperature is also normal.

Well are you using all cores? For example, on my z840 here the CPU does not clock all the way to its max turbo boost when all cores have load. This is normal, the boost speed on the  box and on Intel's website is how fast a single core can boost up to, but it's a lower clock speed when all cores are used.

Hello

I recently upgraded my HP Z400 Workstation to an Intel Xeon X5675 cpu.

The motherboard is locked, but I thought that since my CPU multiplier is unlocked, I can overclock a little using software.

I tested Throttlestop and an older version of Intel XTU, Both of them did not allow me to make any changes.

So, Can I software overclock at all?

Nope, it's a workstation, and not designed for such things.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

You cannot overclock the Z-series workstations.

The W3680 and W3690 are unlocked and can be overclocked.

since my CPU multiplier is unlocked

Post a ThrottleStop TRL screenshot. I think the X series are locked.

On locked CPUs, the C states need to be enabled to use max turbo boost when lightly loaded.

On those chips you could overclock via Throttlestop, yes - but the X-series OP mentioned cannot, and there is no BIOS option for OCing on the board.

X5675 definitely has unlocked multiplier but apparently for motherboards that support overclocking

Can you post a ThrottleStop TRL screenshot? The X CPUs are usually locked.

Here is some W series overclocking on a HP400.

Well, this was exactly my problem. It looks like it's locked but people on youtube and other forums actually maneged to overclock it

Turbo Overclocking +0

That means it does not support multiplier overclocking.

The X series CPUs can only be  overclocked on boards that support BCLK overclocking.

The 26 multiplier is only available when the core C states are enabled in the BIOS; C3 or C6 or C7.
