I'm considering getting a MSI MPG A1000G PCIE5.

But I would like to have something with a better efficiency, that won't be much more expensive that that.

It NEEDS to ATX3.0 and PCIE5. 1000W, no more, no less.

Preferably from a well-known brand.

Better efficiency is useless (a couple % power less at standard usage) *and* more expensive, so you may not find anything "better"

1000W ATX3.0/PCie5Gold is pretty good already

My laptop (HP EliteBook x360 1030 G2)

Core i7-7600U (vPro) (2C; 4T), Intel HD Graphics 620, 16GB (2x8) 2133 MT/s DDR4 RAM, 512GB SATA SSD, 1080p 120hz IPS 13.3" touch Display, Windows 11 Pro (upgraded from Windows 10 Pro via registry hack)

Translation: it's trash

Question: Why does it need ATX3 and PCIE5?

You're not going to find anything with noticeably better efficiency at the same price. You could get an 80+ Platinum 1000W+ unit like the Enermax Platimax DF or Leadex V for around the same price if you're willing to give up ATX 3.0 and the 12VHPWR cable. I would just stick with the MSI MPG A1000G PCIE5.

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450
