Symbols on desktop icons.

So my desktop icons keep getting these x's and checkmarks on them, which is supposedly something to do with OneDrive and syncing? but I have completely uninstalled it and I never even used it in the first place. So I am not sure whats causing this. I just want any syncing disabled, I dont like having anymore than mandatory windows services or processes going because I dont want my information sent to microsoft anymore than needed lol.
