6pin (gpu) to sata 15pin adaptor

Im setting up a server with a non-modular power supply. It has a 6+2 GPU cable which I'd like to use to power sata

Google search hasn't provided much, anyone have any idea what this adaptor might be called?

I have 3 options 6pin to 5pin (5x1) or 6pin (2x3) or sata 15pin

So the adptor needs to be female 6pin to female 5pin / 6 pin / 15 pin sata

PCIe (GPU) power cable is 12V only. SATA power is 12V, 5V, and 3.3V (though 3.3V isn't typically used for storage drives). You would need a voltage regulator to convert the 12V to 5V.

Using PCIe cables to power SATA devices is probably the wrong way to do it though. What PSU do you have and how many drives are you trying to use with it?

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450

dam, well im glad I asked first.

FSP HV 550 85+ pro. Im really just trying to see if it will work without buying a new modular psu.

So it has 4 sata currently, but I have 6 sata drives total, so just need 2 more ports. Would I be able to extend the current sata cable or that would be too many for one cable?

EDIT: ah I found a molex cable with 3x molex & 1 floppy that was tucked away.. But "molex to sata, lose all your data"??

Isnt the sata end melting on the molex to sata? So if you get the same chinese sata ports on your pcie to sata, wont it melt too?

I would rather buy a modular be quiet or corsair sata cable and solder a molex at the end that would go into the psu.

yeah im thinking it would most likely work, but if it did fail at 1 HDD it would cost $350 (10TB) or buy a PSU for $100

I found a quality brand one, will give it a go, at this stage it will only power 1 HDD and 1 SSD
