Apple's Reality Pro OS was almost called xrOS

The developer session for "Build spatial experiences with RealityKit" must have been made before marketing changed the name from "xrOS" to "visionOS" because the person, at about 0:58, says "... and especially on xrOS..." wich shows that there was a last-minute marketing change, after all, they were already making developer documentation videos. xrOS was obviously a placeholder. Apple would never use that name for a consumer product.

Because apple has never taken an existing technology affix and built whole brands around it before. That's why they call it 'phone', 'pod' and 'tunes'.

Interesting, especially since the description says visionOS.

I like chromebooks. Sue me. Actually, no, don't do that.

I'd be shocked if it was more than a placeholder. The name doesn't say much about the product, nor does it flow as well as 'iOS'. It's not a longstanding brand either. visionOS is far more 'current Apple'.
