Seeking advice on new build (major system overhaul)

Budget (including currency): $1,000 USD

Country: United States

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Spacial Audio SAM Broadcaster Pro, Second Life, American Truck Simulator, Microsoft Flight Simulator X

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Hi. As a retired builder (I retired shortly after Y2K) I have some questions about newer builds.

I purchased an HP Omen pc with an AMD Ryzen 5-1400 CPU, NVidia GT 1030 Graphics card and 8gb of RAM. I have since rebuilt the system, using a GIGABYTE B450M DS3H V2 Motherboard, 500gb M.2 SSD EVGA - BR Series 700W ATX12V /EPS12V 80 Plus Power Supply DC-DC Technology and an additional 16gb of RAM and a CORSAIR - iCUE 220T RGB Airflow ATX Mid-Tower Smart Case - Black.

I am looking to start planning my upgrade to get Windows 11 ready by upgrading the cpu and graphics card. I am considering going with the Ryzen 5-4500 cpu and NVidia based GTX-770 graphics card.

I would like to avoid water cooling, as I simply don't trust it (old school tech going back to 1986). What would your recommendations be, as I'd love to upgrade it even farther than the minimums I stated above, but am truly afraid of going to a water cooled system.

If you're playing MSFS, you might want to go a bit higher, especially in terms of your GPU. I can barely make 120 FPS with my RX 580, which is old, but pretty much on par with a 1650 TI. That CPU is fine, but 6 cores is starting to become a minimum nowadays. Personally I'd choose a Ryzen 7 5700G for a generation boost and 2 more cores. You could pair that with maybe a 1660 Super/TI and you'll be set for a while.

I try to be respectful. If I ever come off in a different manner, I probably don't mean to. If I don't help you sorry, if I do, mark my comment as the solution.

You want a GTX770 ??? Got one in my garage 😮

You're still in the past, it's 10 f**g years old ! 😄

4500 is also not great

With $1000 get a $200ish R5 5700X and put the rest in a real decent GPU, 6800XT or such ($500)

System : AMD R9 5900X / Gigabyte X570 AORUS PRO/ 2x16GB Corsair Vengeance 3600CL18 ASUS TUF Gaming AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX OC Edition GPU/ Phanteks P600S case /  Eisbaer 280mm AIO (with 2xArctic P14 fans) / 2TB Crucial T500  NVme + 2TB WD SN850 NVme + 4TB Toshiba X300 HDD drives/ Corsair RM850x PSU/  Alienware AW3420DW 34" 120Hz 3440x1440p monitor / Logitech G915TKL keyboard (wireless) / Logitech G PRO X Superlight mouse / Audeze Maxwell headphones

That EVGA BR PSU and Case is the most restrictive part of this build in terms of upgradability.

MSFS is cpu dependant and it takes advantage of hyper threading.
