Best 120mm fans for case and AIO

Winterlight

I'm looking 3 x 120 front, 1 x 120 back case fan and 2 x 120 fans for AIO that is in top case. What fans is best for that ? I don't care if they have RGB or not. Btw I'm looking fans that support PWM.

I'm a fan of Arctic P12s (pun intended). Cheap and perform very well for their price. You can get them in 5 packs and save a bit.

Main: 5900X | RTX 3070 | Gigabyte x570 Aorus Elite | 32GB DDR4-3600 | 1TB SN750 + 2TB WD SATA SSD

WinXP: Ph2 945 | GTX 750 Ti | Asus M4A79XTD-EVO | 8GB DDR3-1600 | 320GB WD HDD

DOS/Win95: 200MMX | S3 Trio64v2/DX + Diamond Monster 3D | Asus P5-99VM | 64MB PC100 | 80GB IDE HDD

I recently bought 3 AFC1212D PWM High Flow Server Fan 120x120x25mm 113 CFM for $30 shipped from eBay. They can spin fast, they can spin slow, they generate a lot of pressure. I guess it's become fashionable to buy fans that only spin slow for a lot of money, but I don't understand it!

Noctua NF-F12 if you're loaded. Arctic P12 if you want the best value for money.

This, but for rad fans there's also the new 3000rpm Arctic Max that's dirt cheap

Nope Arctic Max are non RGB only

Prob is RGB reduce fan efficiency so you can't have both, that's why Noctua has no RGB (and why Corsair fans arent good 🙂 )

The best budget fans are Arctic P12 Max.

Only expensive fans worth considering over those are Phanteks T30 fans if you don't care about aesthetics.

be quiet! Silent Wings Pro 4 and Cooler Master Mobius are pretty good as well, but T30 are better.

I don't like Noctua NF-F12, they are not as good as competition since they are very old. Noctua is will release new fans soon.

Best budget RGB fans are Phanteks M25

Best performing fans are Cooler Master Mobius

Best looking fans with great performance are Lian Li Uni Fans V2

Don't get any Corsair fans as of now, 99% of them are garbage 😄

My first pick would be Arctic P12 Max, they are cheap and perform as good as 30$ fans.

Second pick would be M25 if I wanted RGB, also cheap, look good and perform good.

You should not pick expensive fans unless you are cooling I9 and 4090 or something like that.

My picks to sum it all:

Best performance = Phanteks T30 or Noctua NF-A12x25 (not F12!)

Best price/perf = Arctic P12 or P12 Max (if you need hi speed, they cost a bit more)

Best price/perf/RGB = ThermalRight TL-C12C, those are the ones shipped with the PA120 cooler and are surprisingly efficient and quiet, rpm is a bit low for rads (1500rpm) but very nice as case fans, and they only cost like $6 apiece!

T30 is better than Noctua NF-A12x25, be quiet! Silent Wings Pro 4 is also better, Cooler master Mobius is similar and OC variant is better at full speed, but also costs less, in fact it's quite a bit cheaper in USA right now. So paying 35$ in NF-A12x25 makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Edit:

I checked and Newegg has promotion on those cooler master fans, you can't beat those for 15$: https://www.newegg.com/cooler-master-mobius-120-oc-case-fan/p/N82E16835103350

In Europe Noctuas prices are better compared to T30 ...

And overall they have similar noise/perf curves at "lower" speeds (I mean the ones NF A12x25 can reach), at hi speed (2000rpm+) fans are always noisy

Some of the best choices are Phanteks T30, Arctic 120 Max and Noctua NF-A12x25. There are certainly others, like the be quiet! SW4, and Corsair ML120 (non-RGB) which my testing suggests is on par with the A12x25. I am curious to try the Mobius.

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂
