are these temps for my 4090 ok?

Go to solution Solved by Teletha,

i opened it up and saw bad paste on 30% of the die's top part. i got a lot lower temps now!

I also had crashes on high load and this fixed it if someone else have crashin issues on 4090 this might help you too. im very relieved now.

im using EKWB block for the 4090tuf and 2x 360 rads for cpu+gpu. are these hotspots too high? See the max values, since it tabs out and reduced gpu load when i took the picture. my Specs is in the sign too.

Looks similar to poor air cooling performance to me, so maybe there's some die contact issues creating a hotspot. Could never justify the cost of full custom watercooling, so outside of DIY mounting CPU AIOs on GPUs, I personally never dealt with waterblocks.

im thinking if its a bad paste i havent touched it since i got the block on release. but dont want to remove or redo it if it is normal temps at 450w

That's roughly the same or hotter than my stock aircooled 4090 TUF ever gets. You're overclocked but I'd still expect better for a waterblocked card.

I don't blame you, unless your hwinfo hadn't seen much of a workload from the GPU, what's concerning is that you're not reaching +120% TDP with those settings, likely from a hotspot thermal limit.

It can vary, but in a heavy heavy load, I'll get +700W total system draw and as high as 127% TDP on the GPU.

Reminds me of why I haven't ever bothered, lol.

I remember parting out full loops for whatever my current build was several times, as far back as 2014, and it coming out to +$700. I'm on full air right now, but I'm an extremist in the function > form debate.

I do know however that sometimes you can run into contact pressure issues with the various screws, so if its not a paste issue, then its possibly that and/or which screws you used if there's varied length screws.

You basically have stock aircooled temps at mid rpm fan speed, I have kinda same temps on my aircooled 7900XTX at 350-380W load

Bad paste can explain a couple C more but here you're 10C too high, there should be another issue in your loop
