Display disconnects when launching older titles in Steam, no problem with recent games

Apparently Borderlands 2, Deus Ex Human Revolution and Civ 4 break my 7900 XTX but Cyberpunk 2077 and Hogwarts Legacy run fine. My display (edit: immediately) disconnects as if I pulled out my HDMI cable and I have to alt/tab to get it on again in Windows. I'm connecting to my 120 Hz LG TV which supports Freesync. Waiting on AMD report. Anyone have any ideas? Online searches have netted me bupkis.

 

If I'm posting in the wrong place please tell me and accept my prefaced apology.

R9 7900X @ stock speed

32 Gig G Skill Flare X 5 @ 6000 Mhz (stock)

XTX Merc 310 7900 XTX (switch on non-OC mode)

Corsair RM1000x power supply

Windows 10 Pro ver 22H2
