Folding on a 2013 (trashcan) mac pro worth the effort of trying?

Just curious if anyone here has tried folding on Windows and or Mac OS on a 2013 mac pro?

Looks like i'll need to run it on Windows, which I already have dual-booted, as well as manually control the fan speed to keep the temps down.

The system is currently collecting dust, sadly a low end spec model, but might give it a shot depending on the power draw.

Specs of mine: Dual AMD FirePro D300 graphics processors and the 3.7Ghz Xeon E5

The GPU likely is no longer supported. Their requirements mention 5000 series or newer, which would be RDNA 1, while this GPU is GCN 1. Folding on the CPU only is going to be very slow.

OpenCL compatible GPU, 5xxx series or newer*, see full list

I totally forgot about the GPU support list, well if the cards arn't supported I guess I am out of luck. Currently updating Windows on it now and ill throw the client on for the heck of it and confirm.

Thank you!

So as windows updates finish I ran the client quickly to see if it would even detect the cards and surprisingly it did.

CPU is running hotter than I'd like, 70c seems to be the maximum safe temperature let alone running it constantly at nearly 80c sounds like long term trouble.

Once Windows finishes updating ill probably run it on only the firepros and partially on the cpu or not at all.

Sorry for the poor picture quality

Been running the client for a while now, looks like PPD is around 120,000. Not great but far better than I expected, i'm surprised how quiet the system is even at full fan speed.
