Fullscreen Games Alt tabbing to desktop when not in native resolution

So, I'm having this issue on my new omen 16 gaming laptop where if I play almost any game in Fullscreen on a non-native resolution (I have the 2560x1440 165hz display) it keeps alt tabbing out of the game to the desktop.

I tried clean installing my Nvidia and intel drivers, updating the bios, updating windows, changing the "display resolution" to match the game's resolution and changing some Nvidia control panel settings, but the issue remains still.

 

I did find out however that when I stop the "Windows Explorer" process from the task manager, the issue stops. 

 

please help me fix this issue
