Is vertical mounting GPUs bad?

PCIE 3 riser cable only capable to work with up to PCIE3, PCIE4 riser cable capable to work with up to PCIE4

Which one is better ? depends on the cable & parts you're using it with.

One thing for sure : Bad risers are bad, regardless of the PCIE generation.

PCIE4 riser cable also more expensive. (At least the last time I was checking internet about it)

IMHO, for your GPU, PCIE 3 riser cable should be enough.

There should be very little to no performance drop running it on PCIE3.

While I'm waiting until Monday to call Phanteks. I'm looking into other solutions if they can't help me with my situation. Is it okay to vertical mount GPUs, I've heard people say riser cables are a problem and others saying they did it but no further updates as to how long have they run a vertical mount setup or any issues that had arise such as thermals. Like is it fine if the front panel is closed while the gpu is in a vertical mount. I've heard issues regrading riser cables PCI 3 and PCI 4. But I want to hear from you guys.

Yes it's ok to mount them like it doesn't damage either part but it might suffocate the GPU if it's too close to the glass panel. For example, my 4000d airflow has a vertical mounting option but its only dual slot and suffocates the gpu cooler a lot so I leave it alone (I wouldn't have vertical mounted it anyways)

But would it suffocate in the P600S case with the Phanteks PCI-E 4.0 Vertical GPU Bracket cause I know some cases have issues with that type of stuff so I'm wondering if it would be fine in this specific case. If not would adding more fans help if I do go the vertical gpu mount route?

since its a triple slot if you have a dual slot card it might be fine but if you have a triple slot card I wouldn't recommend it

Potentially, but the P600s doesn't have a mesh front so it would help but not a lot

So it would technically be fine on the RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra gaming 10gb since its a dual slot?

It all depends in a case by case and card by card basis. But yeah in most cases, vertical mounts suffers a bit in temperatures, the closer it is to the side panel. Which is a shame because if theyre given the same gap, vertical mount would be more advantageous because the hot air exhausted would be pulled away by the rush of air from intakes.

Should be.
Expect change in thermal. Most likely gonna increase a bit.
