Help Needed - PC Crashing Nonstop after BIOS Update

Hello all,

 

I'm in desperate need of some assistance. Today I updated my BIOS to version F6a, and since then, my PC has been crashing nonstop. Every time I boot into Windows, about ~15 minutes later, the monitor begins "scanning for signal" and then goes completely black. Simultaneously, my PC stops responding to any inputs, the sound stops playing and I have to long-press the power button to turn it off. The peculiar thing is that I never faced any issues with the previous version of BIOS which is no longer available on manufacturers website (I installed this update when building PC on Apr 25).

 

In an attempt to solve the issue, I switched to BIOS version F5, the other version available for download on manufacturers website, but the situation did not improve. The system even crashed while I was in the BIOS before I could reenable EXPO. I managed to restart, but yet again, it crashed 2 minutes into Windows. Considering the PC is crashing even in BIOS, I'm starting to suspect that this issue might not be related to Windows. I was initially planning to reinstall Windows, but now I'm not sure if that would help.

 

Here are the specifics of my system:

• Motherboard: Gigabyte AORUS ELITE AX B650
• CPU: AMD 7800X3D
• BIOS Version: F6a (Crashing started here), now switched to F5 but crashes continue

• Operating System: Windows 11

 

I've attempted several fixes, including:

• Installing latest chipset, GPU drivers and windows updates.
• checking physical connections
• checked temperatures for overheating
• I tried to install F6a again and then installed the other version available (F5)

But none of these seem to have had any effect. Should I remove the CMOS battery or reinstall windows? This issue might not even be related to the BIOS update, it could be something else and I don't know how to troubleshoot it.

 

I'm reaching out to you, the community, in hopes that someone might have encountered this issue before and may have some suggestions or solutions. Any insights you can provide would be hugely appreciated.

It's sad to see someone not having family, friends, coworkers, relatives, or a repair shop nearby. I feel your pain.
