THANK YOU NVIDIA!! - RTX 4060 Ti Review

Plouffe

The 4060 Ti is here, and the rumors are true: it's an 8GB card launching at a time when 8GB of VRAM is barely enough for AAA titles at 1080p. That being said, the raw performance isn't TERRIBLE and they didn't raise the price from the last generation, so... good?

iim sorry nevieda just sucks now team amd !!!!!!!!!

While I agree, Nvidia has sucked for a while, they're sorta better now with the new pricing. The RTX 4090 fell 18%, doesn't mean much because the 7900 XTX is way lower price

Yeah, unless 7600 surprises us all I'm back at considering rx 6700 VS rtx 4070 on a cost/performance level.

@LinusTech can you guys start presenting the noise levels of the cards for us with a living room setup, or is the Lab still working on that?

mITX is awesome! I regret nothing (apart from when picking parts or have to do maintainance *cough*cough*)

I don't think the 7600 will be stealing customers who were considering the 4060/ti and similar cards. At best I presume it might convince people who were considering the 6600XT, 3050 or the 3060 cards. I'd be surprised if AMD wanted to compete in this market than wait it out. Make GPU's with high margins. I think the high margins lie at the cheapest and most expensive ends, mid range is very competitive.

A 128-bit memory interface? 22 Teraflops is a lot of shader power, for sure, but goddamn, does this card get throttled. And at 8 GB of VRAM, it's even hard to make a case for productivity tasks such as Blender.

I'd love to see how this card compares to my current RTX 3060 in Final Fantasy XII, a PS2 game that hardly touches the shaders, but at 4K, massacres fill rates and bandwidth.

My eyes see the past…

My camera lens sees the present…

Hot garbage after hot garbage. 10% improvements for the same shitty prices. PC hardware is only becoming less and less exciting as time goes on. I’d rather get a used 3060ti and pocket the 25% difference. Never mind that it’s the cost of a digital PS5 that has a 256bit bus and 16gb of ram besides all the other hardware.

Possibly. The 7600 should either undercut the 4060 on price, or beat it in performance, otherwise it's DOA.

But I was referring to my personal shopping options. What I'm looking at. I may splooge for a 4070 or go for a more sensibly priced option from AMD. But I'm also looking out slim quiet cards in particular

@Plouffe I appreciate the red circle indicators, but IMHO theyre really unnoticeable on a smaller screen. I would vastly prefer a highlight overlay...   (I know you guys are playing around so just my humble feedback)

Same, I'm just waiting for an AMD equivalent for the 4070/TI but as pessimistic as it sounds, I'm getting myself ready for the long haul as I fear the next 700/800 series card will be only be the 8700/8800XT.

I may just give in. I tried to get a 5600xt pulse, but the GPU crisis disrupted that. I eventually got a 3060 but too fat for my mITX case, so I'm in a mATX right now, and it's fine, I guess..

But since I keep obsessing about it, I know with myself that I won't really be satisfied before I'm back in my mITX. Which is why I've got my eyes on the 4070. The Ventus from msi got really good reviews, is supposed to be very quiet and will fit. Alternatively it's a 6650 xt pulse, a sapphire 6700 non pulse or one of the Fighter models. But at this point I could see myself go for maximum horsepowers and just plan to stick with it for long time.

It performs like a 3060 Ti and costs like the current prices of the 3060 Ti, It's a 3060 Ti.

Just buy a 6700 XT, it has more VRAM and performs a bit better.

the 4060ti is an awful awful card.
but they made one claim that is just crazy false

8 GB of GDDR6 is NOT 20 dollars. At today's pricing, 8 GB is 77 dollars.
image.thumb.png.d47a3a8111953f29bf428af8ea8aff1f.png

having a 100 dollar price increase from the 8gb model to 16GB model does show that pricing is tightly coupled with BOM still.

This is GDDR6, not DDR4.

I think LTT does not put enough emphasis on how much this card sucks. Stop staying polite and say it out loud: YOUR CARD FUCKING SUCKS. WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS, NVIDIA? (bleeps are ok, still get the message across) Polite words won't be enough anymore. You need to put the outrage out there. The title is most probably sarcasm (at the time of writing "THANK YOU NVIDIA!! RTX 4060Ti Review") but some people would only see the title and thumbnail and might think of a positive review. I know there are references to other cards being better investments at the end... but still, I stand by my point that there is a HUGE lack of dunking on nvdia.

Also linus's face in the thumbnail reminds me of the Jebaited emote from Twitch. I doubt that was intentional.

Looks like you're using Digikey. "Boutique" component sellers aren't representative of what it costs Nvidia or any other large scale integrator. LTT used the DDR6 spot pricing, as can be seen at 0:22 in the video. Contract pricing is possibly better than spot pricing.

Look at this chart ANYONE and try to justify this card at $399 to me. Even $299, Hell, even $249... I joked months back about how bad the lower tier ADA cards would be but it's even worse than I thought.
