Pc keeps crashing when i try and run games higher than 60fps

so I have a prebuilt and it has a rx 6600xt and every time i tray and run games higher than 60FPS my pc blue screens and crashes and help would be great. I've tried reinstalling windows and updating/ reinstalling drivers nothing seems to work.

What's the rest of the specs?

Yes latest bios and drivers for mobo and gpu the rest of the spec are an 11700f and 16 gb of ram

Games only run fine at 60fps and psu is 600 watt

So you get blue screens when the GPU load increases?

What does the Blue Screen say, what's the cause? Did you disable auto restart on blue screen?

Checked with Nirnsoft BlueScreenView and WhoCrashed? If there's a dump file, those will read it.

idk what bluescreens say they usually disappear before i can check

Windows has that "neat" feature to automatically restart when bluescreening. Nice for the casual user, but a downside for troubleshooting. Good thing is, you can disable it.

In "advanced system settings" (can be found by just typing it in the start menu search bar) there is a feature to disable the auto restart. Can be enabled again at the same place.

That should help with troubleshooting the actual messages. The error codes on the bluescreen tell what exactly happened, who is responsible (as in "which driver/hardware/etc was it") and which parameters are attached to it.

And as already mentioned there are tools to read the dumpfiles.

 

Now for the crashes. PSU would indeed the first thing to point towards. In ELI5: higher fps means more work to do, which means more power draw. If that exceeds what the PSU can deliver, it shuts off. And in less severe cases voltages would drop to below what the GPU/CPU/etc need. Not low enough to fully crash, but unstable enough for Windows to throw a fit.

this is what the blue screen looks like, also i was thinking the psu too but its and 850
