iPhone 14 Pro Review: 6 Months Later

The iPhone 14 Pro, the pinnacle of when you pull it out your friends say, “Bro you must be so rich.”

Besides that, it is the best smartphone I’ve had. I have been through an iPhone 5C, iPhone SE 2020, and now the 14 Pro. Now, its been 6 months since I got this phone, so now time to review it.

(The iPhone 5C was a hand-me-down.)

THE PROS

There’s 2 main things that make this a fantastic experience. First, the cameras.

As someone who takes a whole lot of photos and quite a bit of videos, this camera is fantastic. These cameras can capture the finest details, especially since Apple upgraded the cameras from 12MP to 48MP. Low light is still good, but compared to the competition, it has fallen behind in some aspects.

Video stabilization is a whole lot better compared to my old SE. Of course, there are those crazy and goofy looking phones with the gimbal stabilization, but Apple did a really good job with it. I don’t keep up with phones like I used to, but does any Androids have the sensor-stabilization that Apple has?

Oh yeah, I forgot about the other reason I love this phone. The screen! 120hz from 60hz is a huge upgrade. LCD to OLED is a big difference. Bars to singular pill! Even compared to the 13, the pill is way better compared to the notch. Also, Always On Display! I can see my notifications without my phone being on! I know it’s not-too-new tech, but it’s still cool!

THE CONS

But, no phone is perfect. The “Dynamic Island” does glitch sometimes. Whenever I play games, sometimes it thinks I’m clicking on the island, activating the Taptic Engine. It clicks whenever I touch my screen, then after about 5 times, it stops. It’s a very minor thing but sometimes it does get annoying.

CONCLUSION

Hardware is world-class, software is great, but slight issues.

iPhone 14 Pro Rating: 9.5/10

  • 1 month later...

I upgraded from an iPhone XR to the iPhone 14 Pro Max in March when Verizon was doing their big phone upgrade deal.  Thanks to the sale, I got a brand new iPhone 14 Pro Max 256GB for $500 (including the XR trade-in).

As a result of that insane deal and all of the pros mentioned by @ebprince the computer nerd, I feel like a genius for doing that.
