Motherboard having problems with SATA ports - asrock x399 taichi | Ryzen threadripper 1950x

Check the manual:
If you're using certain M.2 ports, you may lose one or more SATA ports on the motherboard.

I am having problems having it recognize a HDD or SSD when connecting it to a SATA cord... I tried multiple hard drives and multiple SATA cords... Any advice?
