AMD FSR in Adrenaline, does it work?

so, we all know that in a few select games you can enable FSR 2.0, yet my question is, can you enable it for all games?

when you go into the properties of a game like say, Warzone 2 in adrenaline, you can set FSR to ON, wich downscales your resolution, and put it back to the native resolution, causing an fps gain.

 

now my question is, does this work with all games? its bascicaly just upscaling, wich doesnt need to be implimented by the game devs right? you can enable FSR for your desktop but when you start a game, it has a yellow warning symbol in the performance metrics hud, showing it isnt enabled, but the setting is on.

 

how do i make it enabled? ive only tested it in 1 game with 2 modes, deep rock galactic, in windowed borderless it didnt work, but once i put it in fullscreen, voila, it worked.

 

do i have to put my games in fullscreen or is there a setting wich automaticaly does that, or just makes my entire pc upscaled?

well i just said what it seems like it does, i know it goes to 1080p, then adds ai generated frames, correct? so it seems like 1440p

This is a part of DLSS 3.0, in addition to upscaling resolution.

FSR/DLSS/XeSS upscale lower resolution to higher resolution which is less demanding than rendering the resolution in full, but there will be glitches and less fidelity. Games do need to implement it since it's basically a rendering technique, which is why some games have better implementation than others.

Also why some games still only have FSR 1.0 even tho now is already FSR 2.x.

 

AMD does have some sort of FSR feature in their drivers, but since it is drivers level, the result won't be as good as game engine built-in FSR.

so you cant just enable it on your pc and except it to work flawlesly, what happens when you force it on a game that doesnt support it?

well that doesnt really matter to me, as long as it works to some degree haha, mostly just wanna test it, how do i enable it on a driver based level then?

you can't really enable it like that, fsr depends on the game being optimized and implemented in it. i think you mean RSR which is a different technology

RSR is essentially like NIS which works with the gpu and not the game. Thats why RSR is called 'Radeon Super resoulution' and FSR is called 'FidelityFX Super Resolution' (AKA FSR is software based, like DLSS, whereas RSR is more on the hardware and acts like NIS but not frame generation)

well this is one of the issues i was talking about, with RSR enabled, it shows a warning mark, yes its enabled, but its not doing anything

thats weird, try different resolution like 1440 and 1080 with it on and off and open something like riva tuner to see if it has a difference

my native is 1440p, so far rsr has only worked with FULLSCREEN

the yellow warning means it isn't upscaling properly, once you get back try with a different displayport cable and if your using hdmi i think it might be like gync where its only available with a displayport cable but don't take my word for it

well freesync premium works perfectly with my dp cable

and i dont have another one

it works perfectly tho, 165hz on high fps, deffo not the cable, i did find that when you go into theproperties of a game and enable RSR in the properties, it works!

but not when u only have it in the general tab, but i dont wanna manualy enable it for every single game since i own and play over 80 games

alright another question, do i put my game in native in the games settings, or 1080p since im on 1440p
