New gpu

BirdyG92

Budget (including currency): non just what is possible

Country: Denmark

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: gaming most, elden ring, hogwarts legacy, assassins creed and so on, hopefully in 4k

Other details:

My specs now is ryzen 5900x

32g ram(can't remember the info but I think G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4-3600 C14 something like that)

Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 AORUS XTREME

Psu 1000w platinum

And a 1050ti😅(my old broke so had to use a spare)

My question is what Gpu would you all recommend? I'm looking at a ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition because it on sale, but I'm not sure about bottleneckking on it, so I hope some of you have some recommendations 😁

Why a strix 4090 OC? I'm sure there are cheaper even if its on sale.

These are two cheaper OC cards. I don't think you need a 4090 though, a 4080 would be sufficient, how many 4K monitors are you going to be running?

My First PC
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
Cooler: Asus TUF Gaming LC240
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B550-f gaming
RAM: 4x8 GB Corsair Vengeance RS (3200 MHz, CL16)
Storage: 1tb Samsung 980 Pro
Graphics Card: Asus Dual RTX 2060 OC
Case: Deepcool Matrexx 50
Power Supply: Corsair RM650x
Headset: Razer Blackshark V2
Keyboard: Corsair K70 Pro Mini (Speed Silver switches)
Mouse: Razer Viper Mini
Only changes I have made is I sold the 2060 for $235 AUD and bought a Powercolor Red Devil 6700 XT for $400 second hand (it was barely used, think I scored a deal on Ebay with that).
I'm learning video editing and trying to get some cash as a high school student.
I like F1, my favourite team is Scuderia Ferrari and favourite driver is Charles Leclerc. Favourite track is Red Bull Ring in Austria.
Playing with a 1080p 60hz monitor right now, hoping to upgrade to a 1440p 144hz one soon.

Living in AU and that pisses me off since every event is late at night or early in the morning (almost every F1 race starts around 11 PM AEST time)

5900X for 4K gaming with a 4090 will be ok. Sure you could get some more frames with a 7800X3D or a 13900KS but the 5900X for 4K would still be very nice.

I reckon a 4080 would be fine for on monitor? Are you going to be gaming on the TV?

4K is absolutely GPU bound even on some of the most CPU intense game, the best you can get for your cash is my recommendation.

Also, check gigabyte and MSI 4000 series GPU as well.

A Radeon 7900XTX. Or a Geforce RTX 3090, 3090Ti, eventually the 4080.

If I were to upgrade my GPU for 4K, I would not go above the RX 7900XT or the RTX 4070Ti.

But I'll upgrade for 1440p in a few months, hope the Radeon RX 7800XT or 7700XT come as a nice upgrade over the 5700XT I have.

I would not describe 4070 ti as even a mid range 4K card, its a low end 4k card and I would run it at 1440p not 4k. This person has basically no budget and wants the best.

yep. but there would still be some performance loss no matter what. If there was not any performance loss people would be running 4090s on 1st gen ryzens😂

It's simple. On 4K the 5900X can't provide the framerate a 4090 can push.

A 4080 would be fine for gaming on one 4K monitor, 4090 is overkill just for one monitor. If OP had two monitors I would understand but otherwise should be fine.
