Best way to make a backup image of an entire hard drive?

Hi everyone. I own a few Motion Computing F5v tablet computers, and I'd like to make a complete image of the hard drive in one of them. I purchased all three of these devices brand new in the box from eBay, and I've been using two of them for a variety of tasks. They're rather old, but they're still plenty capable of doing the things I do with them, and they're nice devices. One of the tablets is still sealed in the box, and it's this device that I'd like to make an image of. These tablets use 1.8" SATA hard drives, so even if I could easily open them up I can't easily connect the hard drive to another computer. 

 

The tablet I'd like to make an image of has never been turned on since it left the factory in 2012. It has a 1.4GHz Intel Core i7-680UM CPU, 4GB of DDR3 memory, integrated Intel graphics and a 160GB 1.8" SATA hard drive. It's running Windows 7 Professional. 

 

What would be the best way to make an image of this drive? The tablet can be booted from a USB drive, so I'd like to use some version of Linux to do this task. That would let me image the drive exactly as it came from the factory without having to complete Windows setup. I've used Linux Mint in the past on one of the other tablets, and it seemed to work fine on this hardware. Any utilities I should use for this?

Dupe the whole drive to a new drive.  (In this case, I'd say use a 250gb SATA SSD today.)

I mentioned that I can't do this in the original post. The tablet is a ruggedized device, and even if I could somehow open it without damaging the casing the drive is a 1.8" SATA drive. It's not something I can just connect to another computer or a SATA dock. That's why I'm looking for solutions to do it on the device itself.

You can boot a live Ubuntu and make an image in the built-in "Disks" application.

Or on Windows install Macrium Reflect and do from there, or from its boot ISO.

I pretty much solely use clonezilla and it works fine. Tried that?

Id just use disk2vhd. Then you don't even have to boot itno a different os to make a image.

Not yet, but I'll take a look. I'd forgotten about Clonezilla.

My goal is to make this image from a separate OS because I haven't gone through Windows setup yet, so it's still as it was from the factory.
