Wireless Nas Build ?'s ryzen APU vs gt 1030 for encoding

tjrose91

I can sell my Ryzen 3600 for about $75 and get a 5600g for ($150 - $75 so basically $ 75) so i can use the motherboard display options or get a GT 1030 Gddr5 for about $75, my build is trying to be a 3 tier backup system, a 2x5tb NVME raid 0, 5x2tb Sata SSD raid 0, then 2x10tb Sata HDD raid 1 all software based but be nice to migrate to a smaller desktop build and have remote access to all my files and play my media i don't have many blu-ray files some but not alot

MB- MSI X470 Gaming (something) has all the PCIe slots i need and PCIe lane splitting for the NVME raid card

RAM - 32 to 64 gb ram

PSU - 700w bronze

overall questions 5600g, 3400g or gt 1030 for what im trying to do, already have a Ryzen 3600

Why bother with RAID 0 when involving < 10 Gbps networking? It's much less reliable (even if you do have raid 1 to back up to) and you will never actually read or write at that speed.

Id just use your cpu for trnscoding. Get something like a 5450 for 10 bucks if you need a displa out, but the 5600 should handle a 4k stream or two and lots of 1080p streams.

I dont even have a iGPU or GPU in my system and 4 threads of R5 3600 seem to handle CPU transcoding well (approx 2-3 transcodes from 1080p to whatever source wants at once).

so will vega 11 work for transcoding, i mean only really need a display out, at the end of the day and needs to be single slot gpu so i can have the main 16x slot for the NVME raid, Raid may seem a waste but its what im familiar with and hence the system will have 3 back ups and everything be done in software raid

So the R5 3600 will work i mean i can find an old GT 745 on marketplace for less than $40 but want something that will recive moder driver update for a littbe bit long might see if i can find a single slot 1650, or i think i got higher 8x slot that will still work that will allow me to use a dual slot gpu, a NVME adapter, wifi, and sata card
