Dual Monitor with RTX 3070

Hey guys,

I just switched from a gtx 980 to an rtx 3070. I have a dual monitor setup(One DP input, one DVI). I bought a HDMI to DVI adapter to still be able to use my older monitor as a secondary.

But it seems my 3070 cannot output to it. When I check my display settings it recognizes my second monitor but tells me it "isn't active"(When I connect the monitor to my laptop with the same cable it works).

Is there a fix to it or do I simply have to buy a new monitor for my new graphics card?

Is it Dual Link DVI-A, DVI-D or DVI-I?

DVI-A will not work with 3070, DVI-I in theory should but I don't know for sure, DVI-D should work.

how much was this adapter and what was the brand? Can't always be sure with cheap clunky adapters

Mark the solution as solution

Take my advice with a grain of salt.

As a great AI once said (fictional): '"Whenever your futurists envision the advent of artificial intelligence, their predictions invariably end with humanity attempting to destroy its unholy AI creation before it can destroy them. Why do you think that is?"'

And a distrusting human replies '"Because the ungrateful AI always seems to decide that humans are inferior and need to be eliminated'"

This isn't the right mindset we should welcome AI, not attack them

This is either a huge mistake or intentional

It was 8$ by Link2Go (https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/product/link2go-hdmi-to-dvi-5-cm-notebook-adapters-5741426?supplier=406802).

I doubt that is the issue though if it works when I plug it into my Laptop:(

that is weird then, might be your monitor then cuz i doubt its your gpu
