Opera GX crashing with Night Light Mode?

Hi everyone,

 

My Opera GX has been crashing out of nowhere, resetting my Windows Night Light mode. I have been trying to understand if this problem is coming from any games, my pc, or other apps and I think the common malfunctioner might be Opera GX.

I usually have operagx on my second monitor, and play games on my main one (Forza Horizon 5, Valorant, Witcher 3, FIFA 17...). At random moments, opera gx crashes, flashing the screens black for a second, and resetting the night light mode. Game keeps working but opera gx crashes. Some times, if I wait, it comes back by itself, or usually, I just force crash and quit opera gx into a reset and I keep watching what I was watching, now with my night light mode off. This happens even if Im not using GXControl to limit cpu/ram/network usage.

 

I dont understand what might cause this, since it happens with several games, but it doesnt usually happen while only using opera gx. Maybe its my gpu running out of memory, (4gb vram) but why would it reset my night light? 

 

If u have any extra insight on what it might be, I would gladly appreciate the help.

I might suspect one of three things:

1. Anti-cheats for some reason don't like the performance-limiting features in Opera GX (although this would be ironic, as Opera GX is a "gaming browser")

2. The more likely option might be that your installation simply is broken. I would fix this by uninstalling ALL components of the program using something like BCU.

3. Your memory is getting maxed-out despite the Opera GX limiters. Monitor Task Manager to see if this is happening for both your RAM and VRAM.

 

If you have any more details or thoughts about these possibilities, I would be happy to readjust my assessment.

Also, may I ask what GPU you have?
