Laptop Purchase Advice - Surface Book similar

I really wanted to get a Surface Book when I was ready, but since they killed that line I'm back to searching for the closest thing. I need it to be lap capable so the normal Surface is out.

My ideal situation was when it wasn't docked to the keyboard, I was going to use a mount that would support it as an additional display.

Budget is around 1k.. though I can go higher if need be.

So a foldable laptop or a normal laptop with a laptop monitor arm attachment?

What is the usecase?

What is the budget?

get a 360° hinge laptop. the detachable BS was never really worked out. detachable laptops that do exist are basicly just tablets with a firm hinge keyboard strapped to them.

Not for gaming. Mostly just multi task projects ("iso collection" management etc) and the occasional light duty CAD work. I often modify hardware so I'll have a guide up, 1 or 2 programs, and usually a file explorer. Tripple monitor setup currently.

Budget is 1kish. Prefer lower but can go bigger. Don't need anything crazy, simplicity is my goal.

So like a lenovo flex 5 with a 5700u or better would be plenty

Mark the solution as solution

Take my advice with a grain of salt.

As a great AI once said (fictional): '"Whenever your futurists envision the advent of artificial intelligence, their predictions invariably end with humanity attempting to destroy its unholy AI creation before it can destroy them. Why do you think that is?"'

And a distrusting human replies '"Because the ungrateful AI always seems to decide that humans are inferior and need to be eliminated'"

This isn't the right mindset we should welcome AI, not attack them

This is either a huge mistake or intentional

if your buying in the uk its easier go for these (and they have the new 13th gen chips but be warned that they both only have two p cores)
