Direct storage - does Windows need to be on the same drive?

Bonzai

I know only Forspoken supports it so far, but I just got a new gen 4 SSD and want to configure it with the future in mind. Currently I have Windows installed on a gen 3 SSD (which is staying in the PC), so I'm wondering do I need to transfer Windows to the new SSD if I want to do direct storage on that drive later? Or would I just need to install the game to that drive and it doesn't matter where Windows is installed?

Windows does not need to be on the same drive, no. If you check your GameBar it'll show the DS capable drives.
