No SPDIF Out On PS5

IoannisTex09

Hello. I wanna connect a PS5 To a home theater setup but my hifi only supports spdif input. My television has SPDIF out but it cannot output DTS 5.1 . I want a way for PS5 to output a optical SPDIF Coaxial audio signal that is in DTS and 5.1 Surround (Like PS4 SPDIF). Got any ideas?

Thanks

Depends on what your TV is supporting, if you need HDMI 2.1 then there aren't many audio extractors that can do that and they're expensive.

If you only need HDMI 2.0 then they are a lot more common although I have no idea which models are any good.

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)
Upgrading Laptop/Desktop CNVIo WiFi 5 cards to PCIe WiFi6e/7

You'll probably need to buy an HDMI Audio Extractor, unless you decide to upgrade your AVR.

https://www.amazon.ca/OREI-HDA-912-Audio-Converter-Extractor/dp/B07BHYXVTY/ref=sr_1_5?crid=3ADEO1MWPXCNY&keywords=hdmi%2Baudio%2Bextractor%2B4k%2B60hz&qid=1680705459&sprefix=HDMI%2BAudio%2BExtractor%2Caps%2C109&sr=8-5&th=1

Here's one example. This one does 4K at 60Hz passthrough for the HDMI, and extracts audio to output over Optical SPDIF.

Note, this was simply the first search result. I do not specifically advocate for this item.
