Is an rx6650xt a good choice to go with over an rtx 3060 for my build upgrade?

6650 XT by a mile. It's roughly 15% faster than a 3060 12GB when paired with a high end cpu but with a lower end cpu like a 10th gen i3 Nvidia's problems with higher DirectX12 overhead might really start to show. AMD's DX12 drivers are far superior. I know Nvidia got this reputation for better drivers because for years their DX11 drivers had way less overhead than AMD's which made Nvidia perform better on lower end cpus but the situation has taken a 180 and AMD has the upper hand on driver overhead now on DX12. Only real downside of the 6650 XT is the 8GB of VRAM, but at this performance level that's not too much of a concern IMO.

My budget is 350£ in the UK so Idk wether to pick an rtx 3060 oc 12gb model or to go with an amd radeon rx 6650xt.

if your streaming then going with an nvidia card is highly recommended. So if you are streaming then go with a good price used 3070 over in ebay. If not and your just using it for gaming then over the 3060, the 6650 xt is marginally better but if you can raise your budget by about 35 pounds then go for this 6700 xt that is miles better than both and sometimes trades blows with the 3060 ti and even 3070. This is new on amazon btw.

Depends what cpu you have but personally the 3060 oc 12gb is very good as I'm going to get that model too soon. 6650xt isn't bad at all but the drivers are up and down and not stable. But not bad. So I would say 3060

drivers are plenty stable, this isn’t 5000 series shortly after launch

For what uses? Generally the 6650xt is going to be faster in gaming as well as usually being cheaper as well

Mostly gaming I doubt I'll be streaming anytime soon as I have a intel core i3 10100f with 32gb ram so I don't think the i3 could handle much streaming.

I guess I'm being too harsh. My rx 580 is taking a battering with the new drivers.

yeah older cards like that have more issues, 6000 is doing pretty well though

Yeah I think I'll manage with the 8gb vram since I went from a gt710 2gb to a gtx1650 4gb now to an rx6650xt so I think it will be good for the next year or two.
