CPU motherboard ram upgrade

Yes it does, it is only a bit slower, but also a lot cheaper.

However, your only upgrade path with the same motherboard is 5800X3D.

By the time you will have to upgrade, chances are 5800X3D would be rare, therefore expensive, because it is a 3 years old CPU at this point.

Whereas if you go with 12400, down the line you could upgrade to 13600K, which is faster than 5800X3D but also newer, so chances are within 2 to 3 years, it is still widely available therefore won't be as expensive.

hello guys i am in need of a new cpu motherboard and ram i was just wanting some suggestions my budget is $600 aud (around 400 usd)

also i have a RTX 2060 so i need suggestions for a CPU that wont bottleneck and i have 600 wat psu if thats important

thanks in advance.

I would say something like a asus prime z690-p. a 200 dollar ATX motherboard that is pretty decent and does have a header for the future addition of a thunderbolt 4 card. And then, a i7 13700kf. if you have a discrete gpu, you can save the money going for a F version, with overclocking abilityand get one of the more higher end cpu's. just barely hitting the 400$ mark about hitting the max 600$ budget.

If you have no plan to upgrade your GPU within 2 or 3 years, even an i3-12100 is good enough for an RTX 2060.

If you have plans to upgrade, maybe to a future GPU like RTX 5060 or RX 8600 or something, then I'd at least get i5-12400.

The motherboard of my choice would be MSI PRO B660M-A WIFI.

If you wait a little bit the AM5 boards will soon come down in price with A series boards available.

would you think that a ryzen  5 5600 would be comparable to the 12400
